Fishing & Clamming

The Sea of Cortez has many species of fish.

Corvina is the most popular for shore fishing.

Summer and Fall are the best seasons for corvina and   there is good fishing for yellowtail from a boat.

Charter fishing from Kino is available.

The best clamming spot in the area is within walking distance of the park.

Money & Banking

The closest bank is in Miguel Aleman (Calle Doce), however as of Summer 2009, US funds cannot be exchanged without an account.  ATMs  that accept Canadian and American cards and dispense pesos are available in Calle Doce and Old Kino. (Hermosillo has numerous  ATMs.) . Pesos are the acceptable form of tender. Recently (September 2010), merchants have declined  US dollars. A few of the restaurants in Kino may accept credit cards.

Groceries & Shopping

New and Old Kino have a number of small convenience stores, and some small specialty stores (tortillas, baking, butcher, seafood). Migual Aleman (Calle Doce) has some larger grocery stores. Hermosillo has major stores - Walmart, Costco and Sams.

The park office has sodas, juices and boxed milk for sale. During peak season a vegetable truck visits the park once a week.

Doctors & Hospitals

Kino Bay has a small clinic and a Red Cross service. The park has radio contact with the town to dispatch an ambulance should the need arise.

Hermosillo has a full service CIMA hospital. (Baylor Hospitals) Most doctors are bilingual and all medical specialties are available.

Gas, Diesel & Propane

Old and New Kino both have a fuel station (PEMEX) that sells gas and diesel.

Propane for motorhomes may be purchased from the propane truck, but only when it is visiting the park to fill the main tanks. The closest propane service for filling portable tanks is in Old Kino at Hermo Gas. We recommend that you enter the park with full propane tanks.
